[ Abstract ]

The purpose of this research is to investigate heart disease children's exercise behavior and its relevant factors. Data is collected through self-edited and structured questionnaires, including exercise knowledge scale, exercise health belief and concept scale, exercise self-efficiency scale, exercise social support scale, and exercise resource scale. 80 heart disease children, who are between primary four to primary six of seven different primary schools, Beitou District, Taipei, are selected as informants of the study. However, only 55 out of 80 informants participated in the research. Data collected is analyzed using Pearson Correlation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression statistical method.
Major findings of the study are as follows: informants who have participated in sport events would be more willing to participate in activities during weekends or holidays than those who have never participated in sports events. Informants who have never received operation treatment do exercises during both weekdays and weekends more often than those who have received operation treatment with total recovery. The higher a child’s exercise self- efficiency, the higher amount of weekends and 3-day physical activities. The lower the self-conscious exercise disability, the higher the amount of weekends and 3-day physical activities.
The results showed that there are four main predicative factors that influence informants’ amount of exercise. They are reception of operation treatment, sport events participation, presence or non-presence of conscientious sport obstacle, and self- efficiency. The result of present study can be used as reference to promote heart disease children's amount of physical activity and their exercise behavior.
