The influence of ineffective nurse-physician communication on patient safety and quality of caring is the most important goal which needed to be improved in the world. The purpose of this thesis was to design a modular-based nurse and physician communication curriculum and instruction. There are three stages in this research. The first stage was to collect documents and review literatures as well as interview clinical nurses for confirming skills of nurse-physician communication task, it also designed a nurse-physician communication flow chart based on SBARR technique. The second stage is to modularize curriculum, including choosing learning experience, developing multimedia materials and evaluation tool by the goal of learning. The third stage is to examine the quality of curriculum and instruction by implementing focus group. The results of the study includes: (1) Four independent and complete modular-based nurse and physician communication curriculum and instruction, including prerequisite, patient safety issue, nurse-physician communication task flow chart, and how to make a better decision with situation awareness. (2) Each module contents six parts, such as introduction, pretest, learning object, learning experience, resources and materials, posttest, and evaluation tools. Furthermore, this study also designs a learning guide for learner and the students who will be graduated at nursing college to be a well-training nurse.
